Overview of Resident Evil Requiem

Resident Evil Requiem serves as the ninth mainline installment in the Resident Evil franchise. Developed by Capcom, the title is scheduled for release on February 27, 2026. The game aims to provide an immersive survival horror experience by blending traditional horror elements with high-stakes action. It features two primary protagonists, Grace Ashcroft and Leon S. Kennedy, whose narratives and gameplay styles are interconnected within the overarching plot.

Narrative and Setting

The story is set in the American Midwest, initiated by the discovery of a body at an abandoned hotel. This event is part of a broader string of mysterious deaths occurring across the United States. FBI intelligence analyst Grace Ashcroft is assigned to investigate the location, which holds personal significance as the site of her mother’s murder eight years earlier. Concurrently, veteran agent Leon S. Kennedy is dispatched to the same hotel following reports of a missing police officer. The investigation leads both characters to confront the legacy of the Raccoon City Incident. Key locations include a zombie-infested chronic care center and the dilapidated remains of Raccoon City.

Grace Ashcroft: Survival and Strategy

Grace Ashcroft’s gameplay focuses on heart-stopping horror and resource management. Her survival depends on the limited supplies she can locate and carry, necessitating a strategic approach to combat. Players must analyze enemy behavior to determine whether to engage or flee. A unique mechanic for Grace involves the use of infected enemy blood, which can be utilized to craft items, ammunition, and specialized injectors capable of neutralizing threats efficiently.

Leon S. Kennedy: Action and Customization

In contrast to Grace’s focus on stealth and crafting, Leon S. Kennedy’s segments emphasize exhilarating action. Leon utilizes a diverse arsenal of firearms and a signature hatchet. His combat capabilities are expanded to include melee attacks, parries, and the ability to use enemy weapons against them. Leon’s equipment is managed through a traditional attaché case system, allowing players to organize recovery items and upgrade weapons with various customizable parts.

Camera Perspectives and Technical Details

Resident Evil Requiem offers players the choice between first-person and third-person perspectives for both Grace and Leon’s storylines. This flexibility allows users to tailor the visual experience to their preference. The game supports a wide array of display and voice languages, including English, Japanese, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and several others. It is designed as a single-player survival horror experience.
