Official Launch Date and Platforms
Sony Interactive Entertainment and Kojima Productions have confirmed that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will launch for PC on March 19. The announcement, made during February’s State of Play, detailed that the title will be available for purchase through both Steam and the Epic Games Store simultaneously.
Story and Gameplay Mechanics
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach serves as a standalone sequel. The narrative follows Sam on a mission to connect Australia to the Chiral network. In addition to the returning threat of Timefall, players must navigate various natural disasters, including earthquakes, sandstorms, and forest fires. The gameplay loop incorporates combat and stealth challenges, while the Social Strand System returns to allow players around the world to influence each other's experiences.
PC Performance and Technical Upgrades
Developed with assistance from Nixxes Software, the PC version includes several technical enhancements. It will support upscalers and frame generation from NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel. Players can expect uncapped framerates, 4K resolution support, and full mouse and keyboard controls. The game also includes ultrawide monitor support (21:9) for both PC and PS5, while 32:9 super ultrawide support is exclusive to the PC platform.
Audio and Controller Support
The PC port features DualSense wireless controller support for players who prefer the PlayStation input experience. For audio, the game supports 3D audio technologies including Dolby Access, DTS Sound Unbound, and Windows Sonic for Headphones, aiming to provide an immersive soundscape during gameplay and cutscenes.
PlayStation Integration and Exclusive Rewards
Players who log in with a PlayStation account can access a PlayStation overlay to view profiles, check friend lists, and earn trophies. Connecting accounts also unlocks exclusive in-game items, including special backpack design patches and a suit featuring the PlayStation logo. Kojima Productions has also confirmed that new modes and features will be available for both PC and PS5 versions at launch, with more details expected next month
