Crimson Moon is a gothic action-adventure RPG scheduled for release on PlayStation 5 in 2026. Developed by ProbablyMonsters, the game places players in the role of a Nephilim, a hybrid of human and angel. As a member of the Order of the Crimson Moon, the protagonist is tasked with reclaiming the city of Gildenarch. This ancient metropolis has been overrun by the Infernal Legion, vampires, and hordes of the undead. The narrative follows the return of the demonic forces that mankind previously defeated with the help of the first Nephilim.

Gameplay Structure and Exploration

The game world is divided into districts and wards that players must liberate from a corruption known as Hellgrowth. Clearing these areas unlocks new challenges and pushes back the presence of the Infernal Legion. The progression through the city eventually leads to a confrontation with Solomon Moore, the vampire lord identified as the architect of the city's downfall. Exploration is centered around the Sanctus Clypeus, a hub location containing the War Table. From here, players manage missions, forge gear at the blacksmith, and adjust their builds as the threat from the Infernal Legion escalates.

Combat Mechanics and Customization

Combat in Crimson Moon is described as fast-paced and expressive, emphasizing player skill and improvisation. The system incorporates parries, finishers, and angelic arts, alongside the ability for the player character to undergo transformations. The design focuses on high-stakes encounters without requiring punishing repetition. Players can customize their experience by forging new armor and weapons to prepare for the wave after wave of savage violence found within the city streets.

Cooperative Multiplayer and Scaling

While the game can be played as a solo experience, it includes a cooperative mode for two players. When playing together, the game utilizes dynamic difficulty scaling and changes enemy compositions to maintain the intensity of the encounters. The objective remains focused on purging the darkness from Gildenarch, whether players choose to stay together or separate to cover different paths during a mission.
