Project Overview
007 First Light is a brand new James Bond video game developed and published by IO Interactive, the studio behind the Hitman World of Assassination series. This title features a wholly original origin story, allowing players to step into the role of a young James Bond as he earns his 00 status. The game is built on IOI's proprietary Glacier engine and is currently available for pre-order, including a Collector’s Edition and digital bonuses for those who sign up for an IOI Account.
Narrative and Gameplay Pillars
The game focuses on a re-imagined origin for the character, following Bond as a young and occasionally reckless recruit within the MI6 training program. The narrative centers on a pursuit of a rogue agent in a cinematic espionage adventure. Gameplay is designed around player choice, offering the ability to go silent or go loud. Players can utilize a variety of approaches including hand-to-hand combat, firepower, gadget-based infiltration, or social stealth by bluffing past guards. Additionally, the game includes a Welcome to MI6 mode which allows for replaying missions with modifiers.
Characters and Cast
The cast features a mix of classic Bond figures and new characters. Familiar names appearing in the game include M, Q, Moneypenny, and James Bond himself. The supporting cast includes characters named Greenway, Miss Roth, and Selina Tan. Recent announcements have confirmed high-profile talent for the project, including Lenny Kravitz as The Pirate King Bawma and Gemma Chan in an undisclosed role.
